ICQ 3.2
PPC
Shareware
ICQ is one of the most widely used chat "buddy" systems on the Net today, and this is a long-awaited port of the software to the Macintosh. ICQ informs you who's on-line at any time and enables you to contact them at will, alerting you in real time when they log on. ICQ, allows you to chat, send messages, files and URLs, play games, or just hang out with your fellow 'Netters' while still surfing the Net. There is a marked difference with development between Windows and Macintosh versions, however. Requires MacOS 8.6 or later, and requires Carbonlib be installed as well.

IRCLE 3.1f2
FAT
Shareware
Ircle is a long-standing IRC client that is filled with many features, and it is not very memory or resource dependent, making it a very viable alternative for slower Macintosh computers. There are 3 versions available, for 68000-based macs, PowerPC FAT-Native Macs, and also for Carbon-based OS X Macs as well.

Snak 4.9.8
PPC
Shareware
Snak has become the latest competitor to Ircle as an IRC client program. While it defaults to a simple interface, it's customizable, and also has a guardian feature that sets permissions for what a user may use. It also has extensive scripting support, through Applescript, as well as classic IrcII language. Another feature is multiple servers per network so that if one server doesn't work, it automatically tries the next listed server from a list. Mac OS 8.6 or later is required.
