MacSOUP
is an offline reader for news and mail (it can be used for news only,
if you prefer Eudora for mail). It works either with a Unix shell account
(in conjunction with uqwk), or with a TCP/IP connection (MacTCP or Open
Transport). Features: fetches only article headers in a first pass; lets
you select which articles you actually want to download; true references-based
threading, with a graphical display of the thread tree; kill file (with
regular expressions); and multiple mailboxes with mail filters. |

PPC MacOS 8.5 or later Freeware |
Otherwise
known as Yet-Another Newswatcher, this USENET Newsreader is
based off of the original, freeware source code of John Norstad's NewsWatcher
browser, but with many useful additions. It goes way beyond the original
NewsWatcher with a vastly different user interface, many more preferences,
automatic FAQ retrieval, and hundreds of other small features too numerous
to mention here. YA-NW is absolutely unparalleled in its feature set and
customizability, at least on the Macintosh platform, and is quite comprable
to Forte's Agent, and Free Agent on the Windows platform. |

FAT MacOS 8.0 or later Shareware |
YA-AutoPoster is an AppleScript
driven utility, that works in conjunction with YA-NewsWatcher to automate the process of binary posting. It automatically creates your message files, complete with binary attachments, and then, using YA-NewsWatcher, sends them to a usenet server. All that need be done is to put the desired files to be posted in a folder, open an internet connection, then launch YA-AutoPoster. When YA-NewsWatcher starts posting the first file, YA-AutoPoster will quit, allowing other tasks to be done. Requires YA-NewsWatcher 3.1.8 or higher, and also AppleScript 1.1 or higher. |
